Film Update: Fantastic Mr. Fox

Pros:

• Unique and quirky presentation, very idiosyncratic in animation style
• Fantastic voice acting, most notably by Willem Dafoe (if you can guess who he is, major props to you)
• Wonderful details, interesting directorial choices

Cons:

• May feel slightly slow at times, depending on how you're feeling

Verdict:
• Some may be thrown off by Wes Anderson's untraditional style of animation aesthetic and direction. I fully embrace this eclectic choice and enjoyed the film for its ingenuity.

Film Update: Ponyo

I finally watched "Ponyo"! SUPERB was unable to get it, but I finally managed to watch it in the original Japanese language with decent subtitles.

Pros:

• Gorgeous animation. Stunningly original and detailed. The use of color pencils intertwined with the animation of characters is simply stunning.
• Fantastic visual direction. There are so many scenery elements that are so beautifully crafted that I think I'd have to take at least a day to detail the intricacies of each scene.
• Lovable characters and fantastic voice acting, as per usual with most Japanese animated films.
• The story is sweet and innocent, absolutely heartwarming.

Con:

• This is nitpicking to the max, but the ending is slightly abrupt.

Verdict:

• Gorgeous film with some of the most beautiful animation I've seen in a very long time. I look forward to writing something extensive about the film in order to redeem myself from seeing this movie so late.

It's going to be a tough call this year to see whether "Ponyo," "Up," "Coraline," and other fantastic animated films that I need to see ("The Princess and the Frog" and "Fantastic Mr. Fox" come to mind).

So finals studying has driven me the point of creating a DISNEY playlist.

Not that bad, but MAN you know it's bad if you're giggling/smiling/going DAWWWWWWWWWW/thinking WOW PRINCE ERIC IS A CREEPER while listening to "Once Upon a Dream" from the Sleeping Beauty soundtrack.

GAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA ... Biochem is murdering me.
